Around the time Britain was ruled by foreign invaders, the Normans, Bengal was re-establishing its Empire with its second rulers: the Senas. Also, is your surname Sena, or Sen? Ok there’s no historical evidence to prove this but the question itself is so interesting. Are you by any chance a descendent of the Sena dynasty? Imagine how better history lessons in our schools would be if we were taught this!
This follows on from our previous exploring the past post on the The Pala Empire, where Buddhist Bengal thrived.
So, take a look at our slides and have a renewed look into the Bengal’s so called shift to Hindu orthodoxy and find out more about Bengal’s Sena Empire. It involves the spread of the word of Vaisnavism, great literary sanskrit pieces, magnificent structures that are still in use today, and, unfotunately, the persecution of Buddhists. It's also a time our mother tongue: Bengali, developed further.
